This project management experience begins with teams awarded a £250,000 contract to design and construct a bridge. The bridge must adhere to strict specifications and may only be built using materials available to purchase with the start-up capital awarded.
Each team must develop and build its structure to secure as much profit from the contract as possible.
Teams will put their purchased resources to use and must build their bridge to span the gap while ensuring they don’t overspend. The grand finale will see all of the bridges tested by driving our remote-control car across them, with final points awarded for how the construction performs and how much profit each team made from their bridge-building contract.
This experience is a fun way of testing a team’s project management skills, exercising strategic planning, and flexing creative muscles. It is also a great way of getting teams thinking about their role in the bigger picture of their organisation.
