In Bean Around the World, teams play the part of coffee traders managing their supply chain. This business simulation game puts participants at the heart of the complexity in negotiating supplier relationships and ever-changing customer demands.
Teams make money by buying coffee from suppliers, trading with other syndicates, and then selling their coffee blends to the customer (hopefully) at a profit. The experience covers an in-game period of three years, with the winners being the syndicate which the most cash at the end of the third year.
This trading game is sure to stimulate and energise any conference programme and is highly effective at helping to generate fresh ideas and approaches to participants’ day-to-day work. It captures the essence of issues like short-term success versus long-term strategy, risk management, win-win negotiation, managing supplier and customer needs within a complex supply chain, and the power of good information gathering.
