While it may seem to be counter-productive, being able to take regular breaks during a long task has been shown to boost productivity amongst staff members. Working for 30, 60 or 90 minutes at a time, followed by a short break to move around or get a drink, assists in maintaining a steady level of performance. On the other hand, working for longer time periods with no breaks leads to a breakdown of performance and productivity.
