Teams represent a group of research scientists tasked with building and programming a robot that will form the basis for a new standard for collaborative robots. Given a kit with over 300 moving pieces, teams follow step-by-step 3D, 360° instructions found on our tablet-based Robot Revolution app to construct their robot. It’s then time to select from a variety of “actions” which teams use to bring their robot to life and program them to follow specific commands to complete a variety of tasks and challenges.
Building the robot is a thoroughly engaging and enriching learning process. The construction itself is a creative, hands-on process, which is often a completely unique experience to anyone but robotics engineers. The build is followed by choosing what tasks the robot will perform, which draws on teams’ collaborative decision-making skills and effective communication.
Individual strengths shine as the fundamentals of team dynamics are challenged with the third part of the experience, delegating different roles across the work area where some team members build a precise test track, others must work on the robot.
